Photo by @taylorglenn // Sunrise over Willow Flats in Grand Teton National Park just a few days ago. This photograph was made from a spot called Lunch Tree Hill. In 1926 John D Rockefeller Jr. and his wife and 3 children picnicked here with Horace Albright, the first NPS superintendent of Yellowstone. Albright’s vision to preserve the Jackson Hole Valley from encroaching commercialism was largely solidified by this particular visit with the Rockefellers. So moved by the experience, soon after they made arrangements to purchase this land which would eventually be donated to the park service and help establish Grand Teton National Park, ensuring the preservation of this incredible landscape.
