Hiking up to the crags here in Canmore is strenuous sometimes, and we have not even visited the crags with the longest approach. On the other hand, it is a good warm up and one gets really fit in general. Hiking down back to the car is usually easy, I like it a lot, it is the moment when I contemplate about the climbing day and regain the motivation for another day.
