‘Peinture 195 x 130 cm, 3 février 1957’ is a dramatic large-scale oil painting by Pierre Soulages, dating from a defining decade in his career. Between 1953 and 1959, Soulages produced just 39 paintings on this scale: of these, only 14 remain in private collections and 19 are in museums.
