Today we're announcing the launch of sales in #India ??, with our inaugural auction set to take place in #Mumbai in December! Fittingly, our first sale in the city will be led by a seminal work by the master of Indian modernism #TyebMehta. A symbol of the victory of good over evil, the painting celebrates the spirit of India, showing goddess Durga defeating the mythical buffalo demon, Mahisasura. 'Durga Mahisasura Mardini' was commissioned directly from the artist in 1993 and has remained in the same private collection ever since.
Our sale 'Boundless Mumbai' will offer works by South Asia’s greatest artists, alongside works by western artists inspired and influenced by the art, culture, geography and people of South Asia.
