Here’s 6 things to do when you’re having a shitty body image day??? ⠀ 1️⃣ place your fingers onto your pulse. feel your heart beat. feel your body working for you, no matter your frustration? ⠀ 2️⃣ Hug yourself. i’m serious! give yourself a hug. find solace in your skin - it’s like the resolution after fighting with our loved ones. We may bicker and not see eye-to-eye, but love is still there. remind yourself of that ? ⠀ 3️⃣ If you’re wanting to workout that day, instead of exercising for the sake of physique-oriented goals, train to experience and appreciate what your body can DO. I find movement incredibly empowering whenever I feel “stuck” in my skin ? ⠀ 4️⃣ Talk to somebody that you trust. I used to be terrible with talking about my feelings, but holy cow when I do, I realize that “my problems” are truly SHARED problems with so many. by the power of vulnerability, we’re never alone? ⠀ 5️⃣ Feed your body no matter what. There’s something so empowering in the action of nourishing your body despite the conflict you experience. No you may not be at peace with how you look, but is this going to sway you away from nourishing yourself? Hell to the no.? ⠀ 6️⃣ Regain perspective. I know how suffocating a bad body image day can be. It can have this weird way of magnifying my unease, disproportionate to everything else in my life. My relationships could be great, my dog could be healthy, hell I could be winning a Nobel Prize! But then a bad body image day comes along and sucks the life out of everythingggg *insert this is fine meme*??Whenever this happens, I like journalling the things I love about myself. I don’t fixate on my self-prescribed “flaws”, but rather every part of my life that makes me excited and happy. This sparks a sense of rationality in me that reduces anxiety and improves my overall self-esteem. ⠀ I hope some of these practices are helpful. Remember you’re not alone in this.
