Happy to welcome Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina to the Istana today.

Singapore and Bangladesh are longstanding friends, with rich cultural links and growing economic ties. Singapore is home to many Bangladeshis who contribute much to our economy and multicultural society. Bangladesh is a popular destination for Singaporean investors.

I told Sheikh Hasina that the poet Rabindranath Tagore, who composed the Bangladesh national anthem, once visited Singapore. Tagore Avenue is named in his honour, and is in my constituency!
