Today is the seventh day of the lunar calendar, celebrated by many Chinese as 人日 (rén rì) or “Man’s Birthday”. In Singapore, it is common for families to “lo hei” together on this day. In our multiracial society, we also celebrate the occasion with non-Chinese friends, to share the fun of tossing yusheng and saying the auspicious phrases that accompany the dish.
