The Karen conflict is an ongoing armed conflict in Myanmar (Burma), and part of the bigger internal conflict in Myanmar. The conflict has been described as one of the world’s “longest running civil wars”. The Karen nationalist movement has been fighting for more autonomy and/or independence within Burma. The Karen who are a Christian majority, have long been discriminated against by the Myanmar government and have dealt with a violence force by the military since more than 60 years.
This is part of a project I worked on in 2014 about the KNU’s battle for independence and child soldiers who are involved in the middle of conflict.
