Photo: @joannapinneo Bangladesh. Nine-year-old Minara has a plucky spirit. Living in a slum in Bangladesh, she and her mother Rahima and baby sister Sakema barely eke out a living begging on the busy streets of Bangladesh. Their goal is to bring home between $1.25 - $1.90 a day. Their makeshift shack in one of the city’s major slums costs about $15 a month. Minara would like to be a teacher or maybe a doctor one day. Since I took this photograph Minara has been attending a school for girls living in the slum, teaching them to read and write, math and a skill they can use hoping to keep them out of an early marriage and find work to support themselves.
