???HOW TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO GO TO THE GYM??? ⠀ ?I’m just gonna sprinkle some truth on the subject. ⠀ ✨The answer to this question inevitably varies from person to person. Motivation can come from a stream of inspiration, or perhaps from a single source. Sometimes maybe a mix of both? ⠀ ✨Maybe one day it’s an Instagram model (i.e. @worldbyatlas) and the next day it’s a catchy quote (train the same and become insane?) ⠀ ✨Whatever it is, it’ll make you grind with grit...........*sometimes* ⠀ ✨I have a bit of a problem with motivation and its consistency. Truth is, it isn’t always there for me. It never showed up the day I pressed snooze for 2 hours, missing a workout session before my lecture. It wasn’t there when I had a panic attack as soon as I got into the gym’s parking lot. Motivation was nowhere to be found. It didn’t show up in times I needed it the most, so relying on its momentum was not going to work for me. ⠀ ✨Don’t get me wrong. Motivation is STILL nice to have, kind of like having music to listen to when training, or getting an extra shot of espresso in your latte (hallelujah) I love them both. But ultimately, these are accessories to the agent that is doing the work: ourselves. ⠀ ⠀ ✨So scratch motivation, and enter determination. Enter fortitude. Enter personal integrity. Enter “for my own sake”.?? ⠀ ✨Today, when motivation isn’t marching around the corner with a mariachi band, I don’t wait up. I have come to an understanding that relying on everything around me to align neatly enough for “motivation’s sake” isn’t a consistent route I can count on. ⠀ ✨Sometimes, we need to get moving with or without motivation. ⠀ ✨Because despite motivation coming and going, you are intact. You will always be there. ⠀ ✨Now think about your goal for a minute: Do you want to reach a fitness goal? Want to get healthier? Eat more cinnamon buns? Lift heavy? Lose weight? Gain weight? Ride a unicorn? Well then do it. Not for motivation’s sake. But for yourself. ⠀ ✨Build trust within your companionship. Literally honour the shit out of your goals for the mere fact that you know very well what it is you want to get done!?? ⠀ You owe it to yourself? ⠀
