Watching Dick Lee perform “Rise”, the theme song of @asean2018 at the Experience ASEAN carnival at Bishan-AMK Park last night. Organised by @mfa_sg, the 3-day carnival celebrates the start of Singapore’s chairmanship of ASEAN 2018 with performances, fun rides, regional crafts – and for you foodies out there – many mouthwatering varieties of food from ASEAN countries!
ASEAN came together the basis that we are stronger together. Today, we and our nine fellow ASEAN member states enjoy peace, stability, and prosperity. We have become a community that helps one another thrive.
Singapore last chaired ASEAN in 2007, and are honoured to take over Chairmanship once again. Our theme for this year is Resilience and Innovation. As Chair, we aim to strengthen ASEAN’s resilience against common threats like terrorism and cybercrime, and also take our economies forward with innovative technologies.
I hope that during our Chairmanship term, Singaporeans will get to see more aspects of ASEAN, and join me in welcoming our friends to Singapore! – LHL
