From Los Angeles to Philadelphia, David Hammons’ ‘African American Flag’ has proudly been flown in museums across the country. A unique, beautifully hand-crafted example, in which each star and stripe is meticulously stitched together, this particular work was produced for the exhibition ‘Who’s Ice is Colder?’ at the Jack Tilton Gallery in March 1990. Now hanging in our #NYC galleries of #SothebysContemporary, this flag will be offered in our Contemporary Art Evening Auction on 16 November.
