Painted in 1884, Vincent #vanGogh’s ‘Le Moulin à l’eau’ was executed when the artist was living with his parents in Nuenen, Netherlands. In December 1883, still in turmoil after a recent break-up, the artist set off on foot from Drenthe (a town 200+ kilometers away) for his parent’s home, where he sought solace and to re-evaluate his art: “I thought that being at home again might give me a more accurate insight into the question of what I should do”.
