I woke up quite late today. Stayed even until much later in bed, somewhere between the vast mountains I had been dreaming about, the intense soreness in my legs and a monstrous desire for a big, hot supplement of caffeine. I soon found myself searching for tickets for Tehran during my oh-so-mindless morning smartphone routine. Then as the affects of oversleep started to wear off, I remembered that I'm knee high in projects and I can't just grab a flight to Iran now.
Then I made a late and lazy breakfast, nibbling on the goodness I had purchased at Esquilino Market, including some pistachios, that the vendor had said were coming from "Iran or somewhere". My job today is to research and write about these nuts and dry fruits in the Persian culinary traditions (yes, it's a working Saturday for me, too many lazy days in the denial of the end of the vacations in the Alps). So, "home" isn't really ever that far away, with or without a ticket to Tehran. There are always pistachios that I can find at the markets, endless memories and other tiny objects. Except that sometimes they're not that tiny!
