Regram from @cabanamagazine. 17th century North Indian tent panels (Qanat) were key to the open air tent encampments popular at the time. Made of strong cloth and lined with painted cloth, they were hung side-by-side to create an enclosure, within which tents could be erected. The design, a niche enclosing flowering plants, was used extensively in #Indian architectural decoration and as a motif upon #ceramics, tiles, and metal-work from the 16th century onwards.
