Today is the 36th anniversary of the discovery of the last colony of black-footed ferrets in the wild! The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute breeds black-footed ferrets for release to the wild each year by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Now there are about 400 ferrets in the wild. #WeSaveSpecies
