Which is more enticing to a western lowland gorilla: a popcorn-filled feeder ball or a peanut butter-filled kong toy? ??? The answer may surprise you! Intern Trish Jarvis spent her semester studying which enrichment items were the most engaging. Her results are helping keepers provide the apes with enrichment that stimulates their cognition and encourages them to forage—just as they would in the wild.
