The World at Night project
The aurora borealis (northern lights) reflected in a fjord. I was near Tromso in northern Norway on this late March night.
The aurora watching season returns soon as we are approaching September now, when the bright endless days of summer in high latitudes end. Aurora occurs when charged and energetic particles from the Sun (the solar wind) are drawn by Earth's magnetic field to the polar regions.
