Photograph by @paulnicklen // We sat quietly in our small boat while a young female polar bear contemplated our presence. It is fun to watch how they deal with the fine balance between curiosity and fear. She wanted to come close and check us out but she was also a bit nervous. She must have started to walk away over thirty times before immediately turning around to come and inspect us. Eventually, she wandered off down the beach.
