Sprinkle that shit everywhere. It's true, I'm moving back to Brooklyn next week, where my very humble work as a line cook + food writer began. I feel much more creative, relaxed+ chill there.
It took me 6 tough & broke af years in NYC to save up to move back though.
I've never owned a tv here (even tho I work in tv ?) didn't buy a couch for my first 4 years, & lots of my furniture is refurbished, I got really, really creative when I was broke. I sorta secretly love it.
The City is the most magical place in the world, but its only magic when you carry it all inside of you. Never forget. You can do it on your OWN. I am living proof.
You don't need a co-signer, a man, or a guarantor, no, I don't have rich parents and I don't have a publicist, I've never bought one follower...I just put in all the hard work. I always did my best.
I was shocked when they told me I got the place on my own!! I about had a hernia the week prior of waiting... NYC makes not one thing easy, there's no space, no privacy & lots of crazy-ass ppl.
Even schlepping across town with props and camera equipment can be an adventure. Choose to put magic behind it all! I have so many memories here, so many stories that I will one day write about.
This last week in NYC is going to be reflective, sad, yet exciting!
