I'm writing this in hopes that you can take from it some peace, or comfort. A notion to be brave.
My big Sis+ I used to dance around in the living room, back in Cali...to Janet + Madonna, we thought we were so badass.
Mom+ dad told us we could do and be anything.
They supported us, loved us. They didn't say much, they showed us. Mom is Buddhist, Dad is Christian, and it never ever mattered, love was what brought us together.
The important things were sharing a meal, education, showing support, being on time, being disciplined, nourished, mindful & my mom kept a close eye on us.
While Jenni + I both chose to be entrepreneurs ---it IS much harder as single woman to make it work.
I can't begin to tell you the agonizing financial situations +struggles we have both had to endure.
We're not married. We are both very selective in who we date & we'd rather improve the lives of others, & go completely broke af before caving in to what society wants us to do.
Fuck it. We make .77 cents (or less) to every dollar a man makes. Still bullshit. Jenni is in London & sees the same struggles and suppression against women. @ldnbikekitchen
Girls, I am a child of war, a child to immigrants and I will not cave on my word. I want you to remember that little girl who used to blast Rhythm Nation, Vogue, Bad + dance like a queen, remember her?
Remember how badass you thought you were? Like you didn't give af, use that little girl inside of you, to do big, bad & brave things.
Be fearless in your journey, take no shit from anyone & be brave, girl. Let go of anything that is dead weight, be aware, constantly educate yourself.
We may not have the same rights as men, but you can turn heads and drop their jaws. Men can't do that. Can you imagine the power of an educated, beautiful woman? Unstoppable.
You can do, be, dream, become anything you want. Use what you have to your advantage.
Let's show our young girls what we can change, take action & be an example to them.
We will live in a day where we see equality for both women +men. But you've got to take action.
Show them what you've got, you're a total, educated babe x?ck .
