?Important reminder to you all: You are listening to the words you speak to yourself. ? I used to be afraid of looking into a mirror. At each glance of my reflection, I could hear my own voice bursting with negativity and self-hatred. It seemed like there was always something to gain/to lose/to hate. Like a thirst that couldn’t be quenched by a sea, I felt it was best to avoid mirrors completely. To avoid the trigger it would prompt. But mirrors were not my problem. My problems rose from the self-sabotage that left my lips at each reflection. It rose from ideologies of perfectionism and empty promises. It rose from believing I wasn’t beautiful, and that I had to be more and less at the same time. Thankfully, my problems weren’t me. Through the process of learning to love myself, the principles of integrity reigned. So despite how many dinner plates I completed or self affirmations I read, what mattered the most was the kindness I poured from within. I had to understand that I was listening. I had to understand that if I wouldn’t dare call my loved ones the abusive names I once called myself, then I was no exception. I had to appreciate that humans, like flowers, require attention and care to grow. And that they require a garden nurtured with love to flourish. This garden starts in your mind. It needs + deserves love. Remember you are listening; be kind always. ?
