Being an athlete today was discouraged by many, anywhere from medical professionals to loved ones (and an entire storm of social media users). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But if anything, reclaiming my love for fitness was a paramount theme in my recovery. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Plain and simple, I was an athlete before anorexia. I learned to run before I learned how to skip dinner. These parts of me were what made me who I was, and I found no justice in leaving behind the facets in my life that were once invaluable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Returning back to my roots was a part of finding myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today I am an athlete for honouring who I was always was. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I hear my heart beat, it confirms that I am alive. when I feel my body sweat, it does so not to shed parts of me away, but to only awaken every inch of my strength and potential. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I believe in the therapy behind movement. I believe that when translated towards self-empowerment and dismissed of abuse, the way your way your body moves in an act of true self-love. 💜⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s my two cents: It’s your story, and its their observation. If you can be honest and diligent with your intents behind the way your body moves, then the criticism of others plays no role in determining your endeavours. today, I don’t give a flying poop emoji what people say about my passions. I know why I do what I do, and that is enough for me. I hope it’s enough for you, too.💜 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ — For all training programs and consultations, visit http://www.fightforgrowth.com 💜 #WillinglyMyselfWednesdays #FightForGrowth
