In June, @fredrconrad began photographing the @officialrocklandboulders, a minor league baseball team in Pomona, New York. The @officialrocklandboulders gave the former @ニューヨーク・タイムズ staff photographer unfettered access, in striking contrast to the restrictions imposed by @MLB teams whose public relations staff forbids candid shots. There, even simple photo sessions require strict appointments, numerous reminders and, sometimes, agent negotiations. But after attending one or 2 @officialrocklandboulders games a week for several weeks, @fredrconrad was able to build a rapport with the players. And although it was a challenge to depict in the still images he took with a vintage 4×5 Graflex camera, @fredrconrad said the players’ connections to each other were palpable. “It doesn’t matter if they’re in the majors or the minors, they’re still the same,” the photographer said. “They share the same feelings for each other. They share the same passion for the game. So some things don’t change. That was nice to explore photographically.” @fredrconrad photographed these fireworks at a game during the week of the Fourth of July.
