This passionate variation from Jean-Christophe Maillot’s “The Taming of the Shrew” — at @LincolnCenter Festival this week — sums up her feisty, creature-like Katharina, a role that was made for her. “It was a very big event in my creative career and in my creative life,” Ekaterina said through a translator. Working with Jean-Christophe (@jeanladanse) was another big event, though he was demanding. “To him, it’s about having everything come together,” she said. “The movements and the power and the meanings of the movements.” Ekaterina, it turns out, is also something of a clown: When people ask if her if she’s read the #Shakespeare play, she likes to joke that she hasn’t. “How could it be?” she said. “Maybe things like that happen, but I can’t imagine.” When she plays Katharina, she told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ writer @giadk, “the eyes are most important thing. I think they really reflect the state of our soul.
