Most of us are ruled by time. Not @tilerpeck. Great dancers like her “seem to govern time, to find and possess it without haste and even, for moments, to suspend it altogether,” writes our chief dance critic, @alastair.macaulay. This spring, he continues, “she seemed to meet her music with greater depth than ever before: Where before she had toyed with it, now she was fueled by it.” @tilerpeck, who’s 28, became an apprentice at @nycballet in 2004. Just 5 years later, she was a principal dancer. “What limitations does this diverse luminary have?” @alastair.macaulay asks. At one end of the spectrum, he says, she has “sometimes been too blandly sweet, too synthetic to have depth. At the other, she has seemed too knowingly artful, far from innocent as she played with music and balance.
