@nytmills took this photo last night of President Trump looking out at a sea of #BoyScouts gathered in a remote field in West Virginia. “Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts?” he asked the crowd at the 2017 @boyscoutsofamerica National Scout Jamboree. It turned out he did, at least a little. Amid testimonials to hard work and American values, @ドナルド・トランプ launched into a speech replete with jabs at opponents and the “fake media.” He harkened back to his “incredible” election and jokingly told his health secretary that if he failed to deliver enough votes in today’s health care vote, “you’re fired.” (The Senate is expected to hold a procedural vote this afternoon.) The crowd — estimated at 40,000 — was certainly the largest #DonaldTrump has seen since his inauguration. “By the way, just a question,” the president said. “Did President Obama ever come to a jamboree?” He knew the answer was no. While @Barack Obama served as the @boyscoutsofamerica’s honorary president, he never attended the jamboree, because of policies barring gay scouts and scoutmasters. Those policies have since changed.
