Come on in! The water’s fine. New York City’s outdoor pools opened for the season today, and @samuelhodgson was out and about to photograph New Yorkers taking their first dips. “There's something very timeless about kids in NYC getting together on a hot summer day to play in the pool,” the photographer told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “The people there are focused on the here and now, something that's lost in the hustle of ordinary city life.” This swimmer at Kosciuszko Pool in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, caught @samuelhodgson’s eye because of his swim trunks: They looked like an American flag. “Of course, those wound up being obscured by the huge splash he made on the backstroke,” the photographer said, before adding, “he just seemed to be so uninhibited and so free.” #??
