a spectacular view from a spur of the moment detour to the cliffs of moher on our last visit to Ireland - after a long overnight flight we picked up our car and started to drive north. we weren't due at our destination until evening and the day was just breaking - so we took a detour - following signs to the cliffs - driving in near torrential rains on the narrow roads it certainly felt like an adventure. As we arrived the rains stopped and the clouds lifted and we looked out across the Atlantic back in the direction we had just come and a rainbow appeared. It was just the two of us standing watching, soaking it all in and enjoying the adventure - one moment it was there and the next is was gone - ephemeral and beautiful
We aren't the best planners when it comes to travel - preferring the direction of the wind and the curve of the road - searching for that thrill of freedom and finding the beauty in the unknown, the unwritten.
