all the kitchen ingredients necessary for the makings of an afternoon treat.
standing barefoot on the cool tile of the kitchen floor as rains batter the house gushing by the windows in something akin to streams - our first true summer storm
and you could smell it far off and ferocious before it arrived, that humid wet leaf wet pavement sort of smell. I moved through the house systematically shutting windows in anticipation of its arrival - another right of summer like the clatter of the screen door on the wooden jamb or late dinners in the humid night air
and so I made my way to the kitchen pulling out the necessary ingredients for a batch of chocolate chip cookies - scooping and measuring while I waiting for the storm to come
