Nothing says Italian summer evening, like a decent #spritz. I should say I'm not really big on these aperitif #cocktails, but I have grown to like them, as they're central to the "aperitivo" moment, and the Italian social life in the early evening. A classic spritz is based on either Campari or Aperol and prosecco (bubbly wine). The bitter flavor, stressed by the orange peel is supposed to provoke your appetite for dinner. (I remember I once heard an amazing podcast on @bbcfoodprog about all aperitif drinks and their history in Italy and France and it was super interesting).
This spritz in picture though, was no ordinary one; apart from aperol and prosecco, it had mezcal, chartreuse, and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice! And if that doesn't intrigue you enough, its name should. The cocktail is called "Return to Rome", named after the campaign of the reopening of @lemeridienrome in Rome.
I can see myself drinking many more of this spritz this summer. What's your favorite cocktail? ??✨
