It was sunny and 76 degrees today at the @ニューヨーク・ヤンキース’ home opener — a far cry from last year’s 36-degree shiver-fest. As the pitcher Michael Pineda threw strike after strike and got out after out, the excitement of the sold-out crowd at #YankeeStadium increased and its noise-level rose. Pineda retired his first 20 batters, striking out half of them with a darting fastball, a diving slider and a moving changeup. Could he? Would he? But Evan Longoria spoiled Pineda’s perfect game with a double, and a solo homer by Logan Morrison ended his shutout bid. One out later, though, Pineda walk off the field to a standing ovation in the @ニューヨーク・ヤンキース’ 8-1 win over Tampa Bay @タンパベイ・レイズ.
