You could write a history of women in Hollywood — in its glory and shame, and with all its attendant ageism and sexism — by charting the careers of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. In “Feud: Bette & Joan,” the director Ryan Murphy does just that. The limited series for @fxnetworks, starring Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford and @スーザン・サランドン as Bette Davis, revisits the 1962 film “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” Although Bette and Joan weren’t playing themselves, the 2 Hollywood stars portrayed industry castoffs whose struggles they surely recognized. “Feud” may be a period piece, but if you take away the lacquered wigs and highballs, it’s jolting how modern the issues feel. The series hits the ageism theme hard, underscoring how female desirability onscreen comes with an expiration date. Actresses of any age will probably nod their heads when they watch it. @ryanpfluger took this portrait of #SusanSarandon, 70, left, and #JessicaLange, 67, at the @rainbowroomnyc. “Feud” debuts on Sunday.
