my affection for items of quality, integrity and beauty is hardly a secret. I subscribe to the philosophy of less but better whole heartedly. In a world filled with noise and a perpetual bombardment of consumption i seek out timeless elegance, a gentle everyday sort of elegance. For quite a long while now, I have been using the gorgeous heavy weight irish linen tea towels and tablecloths of @31chapellane in my work, kitchens and on many a dinner and breakfast table. But earlier this year I had the chance to visit at their new studio. Situated in the top of an old Georgian building with huge floor to celling windows on the main street in Limerick we had cups of tea and chatted as the pale winter light flooded in. Joi shared with me the exquisitely simple and well designed a line of everyday wear she had created. Effortlessly simple made in rich heavy linen I have been wearing one of their new dresses nearly non-stop since I walked out of the studio that day with it neatly packaged under my arm. Its one of those pieces that the more I wear it, the better it gets.
