spent the better half of the morning shoveling last nights snowfall - it is the wet heavy snow of late winter and was still falling down around me as I went - sticking to eyelashes and coating the tops of boots and mittens alike - but it was the unexpected camaraderie as neighbors called out greetings and well wishes for the morning stopping to chat briefly and catch our breath that made it all worth while - I've retreated back to the warmth of the cottage and made up a large pot of tea - a new blog post for caramelized goats cheese cheesecake tartlets is now on the blog (link in profile) I'm tidying up after the weekend and had to stop a moment to admire this little mixed pile of the everyday objects - I love the handmade mixed with the refined and when seemingly incongruous styles, eras, textures and materials all sitting happily together - and of course my very favorite table accessory, necessity really, a beautiful pair of beeswax tapers - because everything looks better by candlelight
