The Philadelphia-based photographer @markmakela photographed these flowers and dried stalks of corn while on #nytassignment in October 2015 on Long Beach Island in New Jersey. It’s one of countless images he has shot that focus on color. “A lot of these pictures really are just celebrating the mundane and the everyday,” he told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. To capture these colors, sometimes it means looking at your surroundings in a different way. But in this case, it meant looking down. “It can be found everywhere, at any time,” @markmakela said.
