With apologies to James Brown, the hardest working people in show business may well be #ballet dancers. And at @nycballet, none work harder than the dancers in its lowest rank, the corps de ballet. @ニューヨーク・タイムズ learned this after spending a week shadowing Claire Kretzschmar, a 24-year-old rising corps member. Spoiler alert: It was nonstop. During the first week of @nycballet’s winter season, Claire danced in all 7 performances, appearing in 5 ballets, sometimes changing costumes at intermission to dance 2 roles in a night. And that’s just her work onstage. Her days, filled with company class, back-to-back-to-back rehearsals, physical therapy and costume fittings, give new meaning to the idea of being on your feet all day. @sashafoto took this photo of Claire preparing to perform in “The Four Temperaments.” Visit the link in our profile to read more about what it’s like to spend a week in the life of a @nycballet corps dancer.
