Physically, economically and psychically, the sea has always shaped #Galveston — a needle of land that sticks 1,130 feet into the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors can start their weekends on the water at @jimmysonthepier or explore the city’s maze-like saltwater marshes in a kayak. Another option: Travel like a local and rent a golf cart to explore the city's majestic downtown structures and neighborhoods with Victorian homes. Later, at night, head inland to experience an edgier art scene.
