Many fighters from Colombia’s main rebel group — the Revolutionary Armed Forces of #Colombia, or the FARC — have been in the jungles so long that a life outside of hammocks and tents is almost unimaginable. They made lives there, replete with mobile kitchens and movable campsites. But after 4 years of peace negotiations, the FARC and the Colombian government announced in August that they had a deal. The peace agreement brings an end to the country’s 52-year-old war, but now comes the hard part: reintegrating the rebels into Colombian society. The photographer @historiassencillas took this photo of a rebel fighter walking through the jungle during sunset while on #nytassignment with @caseysalbum, the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ Andes bureau chief.
