Happy to meet PM Shinzo Abe again. This year is the 50th anniversary of Singapore-Japan diplomatic relations. Our partnership is strong and broad. Besides robust economic and trade links, people-to-people ties are close too. Over 35,000 Japanese work in Singapore, and Singaporeans love Japanese food. :) My thanks to PM Abe for his warm hospitality. I am grateful that PM and Mrs Abe attended Mr Nathan’s lying in state last month, and PM Abe came for Mr Lee’s funeral last year. I am confident that Singapore-Japan ties will continue to flourish for many more years to come. – LHL
