The photographer @kirstenluce wanted to feel what it would be like to “tromp through forests that seem as if they grew out of someone’s imagination.” In this birch forest in Hetta, #Finland, she had her chance. This part of northern Finland is best known for its snowy white beauty and its views of the northern lights in the wintertime. But in the summer, it’s a photographer’s dream. The open bog land, lakes and mountainlike fells are drenched in more than 20 hours of daylight, creating an ethereal atmosphere — one that makes you feel like you’re on “the wild fringes of Europe,” @kirstenluce said. Visit the link in our profile to see more of her photos from Finland, which she took for @nytmag’s Voyages issue, an annual collection of photo essays from around the world. #nytweekender
