Armed with her trusty .32-caliber revolver and a bottle of Irish whiskey, Dead Shot Mary is back in town. The actress @rlmcphee plays Mary Shanley, one of the earliest female first-grade detectives in the @nypd, in a one-woman show. Although the production of “Dead Shot Mary” is a modest one — Midtown’s Bridge Theater seats just 30 — it’s reviving a larger-than-life NYC figure who has been all but forgotten. Her real name was Mary Shanley, and she was nicknamed for her ability to pull a pistol from her handbag and compel fleeing pickpockets to halt in their tracks. During her 26-year career with the @nypd, she was credited with more than 1,000 arrests.
