A scale replica of a landmark arch that was destroyed last year by ISIS fighters in Palmyra, Syria, was unveiled in New York earlier this week. The replica arch was built as part of a project by the Institute for Digital Archaeology, a joint initiative that works with @oxford_uni, @harvard and the Museum of the Future in Dubai. To create the roughly 20-foot-tall marble replica, researchers built a 3-D computer model of the arch by compiling dozens of photos taken by archaeologists and tourists in Palmyra, a @unesco World Heritage site, before ISIS took control of the city. @nytchangster took this photo earlier this week in New York's City Hall Park, where the arch will stand until the end of this week before being moved to Dubai.
