When @julieklausner set out to become professional comedian, she tried just about every format and venue: stand-up, improv, cabaret, memoir-writing, a @Tumblr, online videos, podcasting. “I always hoped that the thing I was doing was going to bring me where I needed to be,” @julieklausner told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. The 38-year-old comedian has recently gained traction with “Difficult People,” the @Hulu Home of Emmy-winning series she created. On the show, she and @ビリー・エイチュナー play exaggerated versions of themselves: friends who covet show-business success in any form while scorning everyone else’s attempts to advance their own careers. “It’s so fun to play confident and dumb,” @julieklausner said, comparing herself to her TV alter ego. “We’re both pretty immature and awful. But I’m very self-aware and she’s not.” The second season of “Difficult People” debuts July 12. @damonwinter took this portrait of @julieklausner while on #nytassignment.
