This weekend President Obama and his family will be visiting Yosemite National Park. ??? Part of the journey will be a family vacation to celebrate Malia's high school graduation. Heightened security aside, this is what millions of families do as a way to recognize life's milestones. Visit a park, take a hike and enjoy a picnic.

President Obama is "on" 24 - 7. Visiting Yosemite gives him an opportunity highlight the centennial of the National Park Service, the economic importance of the outdoor recreation industry and human impact on climate.
Parks are our common property. These places of unique beauty are set aside for the preservation of nature and the rejuvenation of people. The millions of people from around the world that visit parks do so with the aim of finding relaxation. In an oversubscribed and increasingly confined life, open space gives us a chance to unwind. Watching the sun rise as a butterfly flits from flower to flower is calming.
Outdoor recreation is a vibrant part of the US economy. Thanks for recognizing this.
Climate change is real. It's a hotter world today than when I was born. Kudos for having principles and getting our nation to address carbon. Transitioning to renewables won't be easy. Yet the longer we procrastinate the worse off future generations will be.
We need nature to survive.
