The Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee ?SPCC? works to keep the Khumbu Valley clean. Each year the SPCC collects $600 from each visiting climber to fix poly pro rope and aluminum ladders in the notoriously dangerous Khumbu ice fall. The visiting climbers and the Nepali that are hired by them depend on these hard working men to reach Camp 1 and the Western Cwm.

The Ice Fall Doctors are the team of Sherpa that do this double XL dangerous work. Day in day out from March till the first of June the team of 10 climbers adjust the ladders, re build the anchors and figure out which is the safest way through this maze of ice.
For the past five years the @khumbuclimbingcenter has trained this group specifically for the ice fall. Pete Athans @mreverest7x has been the lead instructor. This season via a grant from the @petzl_official Foundation and the SPCC the course was held in the ice fall prior to the beginning of the 2016 season. The docs have the snazzy yellow vests in this picture.
Panuru, Phunuru and Danuru - three seniors instructors at the KCC taught the class and fixed the route up to the football field. The team worked on rescue technique, rope systems and anchor placement. We are hoping for a safe season.

On 19 April the SPCC recognized the ice fall docs, the KCC instructors and Greg Paul for continued support. Ceremonies are a cherished part of Nepal culture. Milk tea, katas and kind words.
