Mourners placed flowers outside the closed Maalbeek metro station in central Brussels, where an explosion killed about 20 people on Tuesday. The subway station is near many European Union buildings, including the European Parliament. Belgian investigators are racing to assemble a fuller portrait of the brothers who — along with at least 2 accomplices — carried out bombings at the subway station and at the airport that left 31 people dead and 300 wounded.
