In 2009, the construction of the government-built Picachos dam in #Sinaloa, Mexico, left 6 towns underwater, displacing hundreds of families. In response, the families started a movement to protest their treatment. The filmmaker Betzabé Garcia (@_venado), who is from Sinaloa, made a short documentary to tell their story — the first in a @ニューヨーク・タイムズ series of short documentary films by Mexican directors. “This Op-Doc is a tribute to a man who refused to remain silent in the face of injustice, and who was willing to pay any price necessary to stand up for what he believed in,” @_venado writes.
