Photograph by @remibenali. Arles, France. This obelisk standing in front of the City Hall was first erected in the center of the Roman circus built for the horse cart races in 149 AD. After the circus was abandoned in the 6th century, the obelisk fell down and was rediscovered in the 14th century, used as a bench in a private garden. It was then re-erected in the city center. With numerous Roman and Romanesque monuments, the city of Arles, between Provence and Camargue, is listed as a World Heritage site.
