Congratulations to the Union of Power and Gas Employees (UPAGE) on its 20th anniversary!
UPAGE played a critical role as we restructured our energy industry. As a result, today’s workers have good jobs. UPAGE continues to help members to upgrade, take on higher skilled jobs and earn more.
Glad to meet some pioneer union leaders at the anniversary celebration last night. Abdul Rahman Mahbob (centre, with his daughter) was a shop steward in the City Council Staff Union in the 1950s. He rose to become the first president of UPAGE. His daughter works in Singapore Power, and is a UPAGE member too!
